ANDRITZ Powerlase and Laser Spectronix present at the semiannual KSLP event

On Thursday the 31st of May 2018, ANDRITZ Powerlase was invited to present the company’s recent activities at the semiannual event on laser applications, organised by the Korean Society of Laser Processing at the PyeongChang resort that had also hosted the winter Olympics in February same year. The laser applications event was attended by a mix of industrial, academic and research scientists and engineers, working in the field of laser processing and manufacturing. 

Cantauri-500-Website-Optimised-SqaurePowerlase is renowned in Korea for its competitive DPSS laser sources that supported several manufacturing lines in thecountry’s dense industry of micro-electronics and flat panel displays. With this presentation, Powerlase introduced the Centauri, its new pulsed fibre laser product line and new macro applications for the aerospace, marine, automotive and infrastructural maintenance industrial sectors. The applications range from paint and coating removal to cleaning and rust removal. The audience showed particular interest in the applications related to weld preparation, marine paint removal and nuclear decommissioning.

Dr. Ioannis Metsios who gave the extended 30 minute presentation, was later presented with an award of appreciation at the event’s networking dinner. Dr. Jomsool Kim of Laser Spectronix says “The event was an excellent opportunity to introduce Powerlase’s macro activities to the Korean market and the presented results were received well by the event’s diverse audience.
