AMOLED display – next generation televisions
Building on the surface modification processes used in flat panel display manufacture, Powerlase Photonics has developed the laser systems required for green laser annealing (GLA) for AMOLED display manufacture.
The technique replaces the need for costly excimer lasers used in the excimer laser annealing (ELA) process. GLA uses high power laser systems whose beams are transformed into a line focus and then scanned across a polysilicon coating on the AMOLED substrate. The rapid heating and then slow cooling of the polysilicon increases the size of the silicon crystals, therefore improving electron mobility. High electron mobility is required to produce the high pixel switching speeds required for most display applications.
